Our founder, Marcus Mosiah Garvey, placed a great emphasis on productivity as he recognized the intimate relationship between the means of production and the character of a people. He recognized that social character is determined by the nature of social and labor relations.
Furthermore, Mr. Garvey recognized that consuming their products would not rescue us from subordination.

In order for us to rebuild our empire, we as a people have to start imagining it, that is to say that as we gain knowledge from our enemies, we have to collect and apply it accordingly. Unfortunately we do not transfer a lot of the knowledge to our people that we have gained from working with this country.
